Using SSO services to access the locus

locus has a firm stance on self hosting, owning your data, and opposing GAMAM. In this light it is important to address why we allow SSO options when signing up for an account here.

In the interest of creating an accessible and inclusive community, SSO integration is offered as an easy way into the discussion. Avoiding big tech is complicated by design and we want to facilitate getting people involved with as little friction as possible.

We encourage users to disconnect their online identities as soon as possible, but don’t want to do so at the expense of pushing away potential allies.

At the moment we support Discord and Github account sign in. We are open to discussion around these options, including adding or removing them. Once locus gains more steam we may consider removing them altogether, if it is seen as beneficial by the community.
